Continuing a tradition of more than 25 years, this year’s craft fair will be held on Saturday, November 6th from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the church. Given as gifts or kept for yourself, hand made crafts are meaningful. Not only is the purchase often a treasured item, but it supports the local economy and local business people who make and sell these items. Crafts this year include: jewelry, knit and crochet items, pillows and quilts, decorative hair bows, photography and a variety of stocking stuffers. Convenient and affordable ready-made gift packages as well and hot/cold ‘ease-my-pains’ bags will be available.

Any holiday craft fair would not be complete without raffles. Raffles to date include:

8 passenger stretch limousine for 3 hours, courtesy of Prince Limousine of Raymond, plus $100 American Express Gift Card to use at the restaurant of the winner’s choice

Queen-sized handmade quilt

Red Afghan

$100 of fuel oil from Fred Fuller

$50 certificate from Hannaford

Additional gift certificates to hair salons, pizza parlors, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Green Tea Restaurant, T-Bones, Cactus Jack’s and Curves.

In addition many themed baskets will be raffled off: From the Farm, Love My Pet, All Wrapped Up, This Magic Moment, Candles, Knitting, Toys for Boys, Games for Girls and more.

We appreciates the involvement and generosity of all participating businesses and individuals.

Vendors are members of the church as well as members of the public, and many have been participating for years. There are a limited number of vendor tables still available at $25 each. The kitchen will also be open and serving soup, chili, sausages, hot dogs, coffee, and drinks.

It’s back! For your gastronomic pleasure, the immensely popular Litchfield Church Chili Cook-off Contest returns on Saturday, January 24th at 6:00 PM. Here’s how it works. Those who want to enter bring their favorite pot of chili (everbody can bring side dishes, of course). Everybody present samples the chili recipes and then votes for their favorite. No cook may vote for his or her own chili, but must select their favorite from the others! The winner will receive the hearty congratulations of all and a gift certificate for dinner for two at, where else?… Chili’s Restaurant! Will it be the “four-alarm” firehouse chili, or the five-bean special? Perhaps the chili con polo chicken chili, or the Tex-Mex veggie? Or maybe your own unique family secret recipe? Come on, bring your chili and enjoy hot food and warm friendship on a cold mid-winter evening! You don’t have to bring chili to come and enjoy… everybody is welcome and there will be plenty for all!

A big thank you to all who helped to make the Church Holiday Craft Fair a great success. Special thanks to the organizing committee, Terry Jefferson, Cindy Couture, Marge Dabrowski and Jan Hillson. The many vendors with delightful crafts, the delicious baked goods, the great soups, chili and hot dogs from Wayne’s kitchen, the generous local merchants and friends of the church and of course the fabulous quilt raffle; all these came together to make this, as some said, the most enjoyable and successful Holiday Craft Fair ever. Over $4000 was raised to benefit the church.
