Membership
Each year we invite friends of our church to become members. Why would someone want to be a member of the church? While everyone is welcome to worship, enjoy our fellowship, and serve on work groups and committees, only members may vote in matters that come before the congregation, and only members may be ordained and hold office as elders and deacons. By becoming a members we say, “This is my church and I want to help shape it’s life and its future.” All who wish to become members will have an opportunity to have a conversation with church leaders about the meaning, rights, and responsibilities of church membership.
There are three ways that people may become members:
- By Profession of Faith. For those who have never held formal membership in any Christian church, becoming a member means professing faith in Christ as Lord and Savior and expressing a desire to be Christ’s follower and a member of this church. Those who have never been baptized as Christians will be baptized upon their profession of faith.
- By Re-affirmation of Faith. For those who have been baptized and have been members of a Christian church, but have not been actively involved for some time, becoming a member means re-affirming, or making a fresh commitment to faith in Christ.
- By Letter of Transfer. For those who are members in good standing of another Christian church, becoming a member means obtaining a letter transferring membership from that church to ours.
If you are interested in becoming a member, please contact Pastor Steve Quinlan at the church or by phone at 603 540-2332.

We were in Litchfield from 1973 to 1978. Jack and Pat Jackson and Candace Hale were very active in the church, and great friends. Candace and I started the kindergarten in the newly constructed basement. She acquired the teacher and materials and I researched and acquired the necessary items and permits required by the state re building, safety, egress and operation of a private school. It was a wonderful time in our lives with our three children. There may still be someone there who remembers one of our children dressed as an angel with wings that nearly instigated a riot among the children during the Christmas nativity procession through the church. He saw the wings on his back and jumped up on the pews trying to fly. The other angels saw him and did the same thing! He DID eventually get a pilots license! I believe that I (Kurt) transferred my membership to Litchfield from the United Methodist Church of Alexandria Bay, NY and my wife, Else, by reaffirmation, having been baptised and a member of the German Evangelical Church in The Netherlands. We now live in FL and wish to become members of our local Methodist church. Please check if we did indeed become members and let me know so we can transfer membership. Congratulations on your 200th anniversary. We wish all of you a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year and hope it’s not too cold this winter.
